Mentorship

TRIUMPH & SURGE Mentorship Circle

Interested in Joining Our Mentorship Circle?

As a mentor, you'll offer valuable guidance and support to TRIUMPH and SURGE scholars during crucial stages of their educational journey. Group mentoring provides a collaborative approach where mentors work together to help scholars successfully transition into school, work, and adulthood. Our mentoring activities are designed to ensure that mentors are effectively recruited, screened, trained, matched, initiated, monitored, and supported in fostering productive relationships with scholars.

We are looking for mentors from local businesses, community leaders, officials, government agencies, community organizations, faith groups, professional associations, fraternal organizations, and other community-related spaces.

Selected mentors will undergo a New Mentor Orientation, which offers an overview of the TRIUMPH&SURGE program and equips mentors with the essential knowledge, attitudes, and skills for building effective group mentoring relationships. Below are some key traits and responsibilities for prospective group mentors. If you align with these qualities, we encourage you to complete a Mentor application.

Prospective Group Mentors Should:

  • Serve as role models
  • Provide constructive feedback on goals, situations, plans, and ideas
  • Foster a supportive and trusting environment
  • Schedule regular, uninterrupted time with your group
  • Actively listen and engage with questions
  • Offer encouragement through positive reinforcement
